Daryl Davis

Activist and Musician

Do you think it’s impossible for a Black man to convince Ku Klux Klan members to renounce racism? Over the years, Daryl Davis has convinced over 200 people to leave the KKK by engaging in honest, respectful conversations, breaking down barriers, and challenging their racist beliefs. His efforts are documented in his book Klan-destine Relationships and the documentary Accidental Courtesy: Daryl Davis, Race & America. In addition to his activism, Davis is an accomplished blues musician, having performed with legends like Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis. His dual career as a musician and an activist highlights his belief in the power of both music and dialogue to bridge divides and foster understanding.
